A drawing I contributed to Chris Marrs Pilliero and Dave Macdowells " I Want My Music Video Art Show" happening oct 7 till end of month in Hollywood. Every artist was asked to pick their favorite music video and go from there, pretty sweet request. I grabbed TOM PETTY'S - "DONT COME AROUND HERE NO MORE". always thought the video would have been even more bad ass if petty was the hatter and the caterpillar all in one while he was eating Alice at the end. details of pieces for a series im working on entitled "All the Queens Men". An idea I've been wanting to do for a while and since i've been busy at my studio job this is a good way to kick me in the ass so i can get this series done. Some of these are going to stay as drawings and some will be paintings. the drawings entitled "the queen" and "the fool" im certain about will be getting some oil. I'm still going to add a few more men for the queen, so again w.i.p. ~ the queen drawing and the clown are being framed this week. I'll post some pics of them in their frames soon ~

HEADLESS HORSEMAN

this was a very early version of how i wanted to go with the new vision of the headless horseman. more quirky and stylized and less realistic. the idea was this horseman was riding around headless with no legs, used his slaves to push his taxidermy horse on wheels to find new slaves to replace his decapitated heads. obviously it was hard to show all this in a short film so i took it a different direction.

this was the final design we all agreed on, it matched the steampunk style more and gave the appearance that the horseman was a realistic moving locamotive.

Dave and I did alot of back and forth to get the model to its finish. overall, it turned out pretty damn cool- above are some rendered maya images I drew over for dave to model to, a technique very similar to what I do at Bluesky~ to check out a full turn around of the model go to daves blog http://davestrick.blogspot.com/

This is the study for the relief I am constructing for my senior thesis. The medium for the study consists of graphite, ink, and washes. The final project is being made out of terra- cotta. Each panel will be exactly 20 by 20 inches. The piece itself is entitled "Resurrection of the Emperor"

Willy Wonka concept designs

For these paintings, I was conceptualizing the story behind Willy Wonka and his oompa Lumpa's. The concept behind this Willy Wonka was basically he had been trapped in his factory for so long that his flesh and eye's got completely sensitive to the outside air and sunlight. Therefore having to wear a face mask and goggles to protect his face. The oompa Lumpa's are around to wheel his oxygen tank for him to breath. I had so much fun doing this stuff, I'm hoping after school to do a maquette of the oompa lumpa. I have some factory environment stuff I'll post soon. Until then I hope you enjoy my twisted gang of Wonka Land.

sketches from the black sketchbook. When people ask what do you think about when you draw, it's more than what I say when I give a response. Alot of times my sketches are just random creations, but for a lot of the drawings like these images above it is for a series titled dark royalty. If random people come up to ask me what im thinking about when I draw these images, I'll most likely say, " I don't know just random stuff" mainly because it's ideas that I'm still in the midst of forming and I dont want you to know about it yet, so if your the type of person that likes to critisize artists about being "Dumb as rocks" thinking that they just create stuff and don't think what it means, than you can share this to your friends, because your all narrow minded and need to investigate more before you speak.
